Elie supports client management and auditing services to a subset of forestry and forest product clients in Canada, acting as a primary point of contact to support new and existing clients with their sustainability certifications in Canada. He works on all aspects of forestry certification assessments and audits including scheduling, project management, customer service, technical guidance, consultant management and quality control.

As a Senior Forestry Specialist, Elie manages a portfolio of certified businesses, travels to client facilities to assist in conducting on-site sustainability audits, identifying local opportunities for increasing portfolio with new organisations, working with other certifications such as the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Carbon Footprint Management (CFM).
Elie contributes to developing and maintaining relationships with clients/ institutions/ partners in Canada and oversees consultants who provide certification and verification services for FSC and other services to our clients. In coordination with the region’s team, Elie also organises and facilitates training courses for businesses, stakeholders, and auditors in Canada.
Prior to joining Preferred by Nature, Elie worked as general manager of private forest board, and crown land in Quebec/ Canada. As technical adviser for the Certified Forest promotion program of Central Africa Forest Commission, he supported and implemented FSC, PEFC/PAFC, LegalSource, Legal origin of timber and UEDR, within companies.
Elie conducted internal audits, and worked with forest companies, civil society, government institutions, and municipal forest and participated in the development and strategies set. He was also actively involved in the drafting of FSC and PEFC/PAFC national standards and supported companies to fulfil corrective actions.
